The high-quality robinia wood frame combines natural aesthetics with exceptional stability. The new planters, made from durable ASA plastic, are weatherproof, UV-resistant and retain their shape – ideal for long-lasting, attractive urban gardening. With a capacity of 10 litres per planter (46 × 25 × 17 cm), the system offers plenty of space for herbs, vegetables or ornamental plants. The integrated 1.5-litre water reservoir ensures even watering – particularly handy on hot summer days. The innovative bottom-up watering system and water level indicators guarantee optimal moisture levels, whilst overflow channels prevent waterlogging.

The carefully designed geometry of the planters ensures ideal light distribution and healthy plant growth. Thanks to the precise balance of light, nutrients, space requirements and water supply, plant stress is reduced and pest infestations are minimised. The result: healthy plants and, as an added bonus, a magnificent privacy screen.

And once the gardening season is over, the plant stand can be easily folded away thanks to its scissor-fold mechanism and stored away to save space.

Available in three versions and – for indoor use – with a range of coloured finishes. For deep-rooted plants, we recommend the foldable raised bed – 8 litres.

A vertical garden or a fold-away raised bed?

Both Urbanature products are designed for space-saving gardening on balconies and patios. The main difference lies in their intended use.
The Vertical Garden is ideal if you want to add greenery to your balcony, create a privacy screen and grow plants in a rectangular space. The planters are oblong and, at 10 litres each, slightly larger than those of the foldable raised beds.
The foldable raised bed is the better choice if you need more space between plants, want to grow larger plants, or are focusing on deep-rooted plants and high-yield vegetable varieties. With its square containers and wider spacing between them, the raised bed has a slightly more column-like appearance. Grow covers are available specifically for this model.

The Vertical Garden is designed for outdoor use. The frame is made of sturdy black locust – a particularly durable wood with high natural resistance (durability class I). The wood is knot-free and chamfered. It is sourced from Austria and Hungary. The planters are weatherproof, UV-resistant and suitable for long-term outdoor use (3-year guarantee). The plastic (ASA) is torsion-resistant.

The result: a high-quality planting system that not only looks attractive but will also last for several gardening seasons.

Quick to set up, versatile in use.

Thanks to its hinged fittings, the Vertical Garden can be set up quickly and used in a variety of ways. It doesn’t require wall mounting, and there’s no need to drill holes. This makes it ideal for rented flats and balconies where permanent installations are either not possible or not desired. At the end of the season, you can fold the frame away and store it to save space.

Can I use the vertical garden as a privacy screen?

Yes. Dense planting creates a natural screen for balconies and patios. Hanging, bushy or flowering plants in particular provide greater privacy.

What is the difference compared to a fold-away raised bed?

The Vertical Garden is ideal for providing privacy and greenery on a rectangular area. The container volume is larger, at 10 litres each. The water reservoir is also slightly larger, with a maximum capacity of 1.5 litres per container. The fold-out raised bed is square, offers more space between plants and is better suited to larger plants, deep-rooted varieties and high-yield gardening. Propagation covers are only available as accessories for the fold-out raised bed.

Which version is better: Basic or Hydro?

Basic is a good, affordable entry-level option if you don’t need an overflow (for expanded clay or Sermamis) or if you’re handy and can set up the drainage system yourself. Hydro is ideal for sunny balconies and anyone who wants to minimise the effort involved in watering. The Hydro version includes an overflow, a water level indicator, a cleaning fleece, a drainage grid, a suction basket, watering corners and a plug in the lower compartment.

Which plants are suitable for a vertical garden?

Herbs, lettuces, strawberries, edible flowers and compact ornamental plants are well suited. It is important to group plants with similar water requirements together in each planter. The location is crucial.

Does the vertical garden have to be fixed to the wall?

No. The Vertical Garden is designed as a freestanding planting system and does not require permanent wall mounting.

Is the vertical garden suitable for rented flats?

Yes. As no permanent installation or drilling is required, the vertical garden is ideal for rented flats and balconies.

Can I put the vertical garden away for the winter?

Yes. The frame folds away – simply remove the two fixing screws, and that’s it. The scissor frame folds in on itself and can be stored away to save space at the end of the season.

Is a vertical garden suitable for growing vegetables?

Yes, especially for compact plants such as leaf lettuce, herbs, strawberries or edible flowers. For larger vegetable plants or deep-rooted varieties, we recommend the fold-away raised bed.
